Every day you wake up to begin a new chapter in your life story.
The story of your life isn't written until you live it, and you get to make it up as you go along. You are in charge of deciding what story lines to follow, which choices to make, what your character says and does. You give your life story its overall tone and feel. You develop new plots, story lines, and introduce new characters into the story.
You can be your own writer, editor, and publisher. You don't need anyone else to give you the stamp of approval - it's your story to tell, not theirs. By doing this, you get to know yourself better. You can write your life story to reflect deeply into you, and to ask yourself some big questions. You can decide to learn about the things that interest you, and do your research into those things. You can also add fun adventures, nerve wracking plot twists, and joy filled experiences to the tale of your life.
Your life story is yours to write.
If it feels like your life has been happening to you, and that you're not in charge of it, perhaps you're not writing it for yourself. You might be trying to live your life from someone else's manuscript. Maybe you gave the rights to your own story away to others - to your family or friends, the culture you grew up in, or the prevailing beliefs and ideas you see around you.
The question is, if you're not in charge of your own story, who is? For example, if you can never win with the current plot line you have going, can it be changed to one that's more validating for you? If you don't like the other characters, can you write them out of your story? If you've been stuck on what to write next, how do you get over your writer's block?
Becoming conscious is the key that puts you in charge of your own story.
When you find yourself repeating the same story over and over, attracting the same kinds of people who aren't good for you, the situations that frustrate you, you may ask "Why?! Why does this keep happening to me?". Repeating an old broken down pattern again and again is a sign that you're not living from your own truth.
You can write yourself into a new reality. This is a beautiful time to turn to yourself, go within and get to know you better. Stuck situations that seem to be on auto-repeat are helping you to see something clearer. They're not showing up to punish, but to enlighten.
It's time for spiritual growth, consciousness, self healing - for some new tools and information. It's time to listen to your body, your intuition, and yourself. Every day is another chance to have a new adventure, and tell your story afterward.
So, what story are you writing?
Is it an action adventure, thriller, love story, perhaps with a touch of sci-fi drama? How about a spiritual comedy romance? Do you get to learn new fascinating things? Is your story validating for you? Inspiring, healing, redemptive, joyful?
Nobody else gets to tell your story for you, unless you relinquish the rights to it yourself. You protect and copyright your own story, simply by showing up to live it the way you choose.
The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can. -Neil Gaiman
